HELLO!

Communication, culture, community, and creative content are my passions, as well as my areas of expertise. Not only do I thrive off these aspects of my degrees, but I also am certain that these are fundamental skills for any successful communications professional. These passions—combined with my enthusiasm for new opportunities—make me feel confident that I would be an asset to any company.

I graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Arts in advertising and Spanish in 2018. After graduating, I returned home to Minnesota. My first job out of school was becoming a contracted copy editor at Target with the Weekly Ad & Promotions Team. I was promoted to full-time senior copy editor after four months of contract work. Shortly thereafter, I found my way back to the Dot Foods Branding team after interning for them in 2017. I have been with that team in multiple capacities ever since.

During the spring of 2017, I was fortunate enough to spend a semester immersed in Spanish culture and language as I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. My enthusiasm for language and my desire to further understand other cultures flourished while I was in Spain. This led to my curiosity regarding advertising and marketing theories and strategies in an international and cross-cultural climate.

That experience drove me to search for a master’s degree program where I could learn more about communication theory and cross-cultural communication. I started at the University of Iowa in their Master of Arts program in strategic communication in January 2020.

To wrap up my master’s degree, I completed research on the relationship between culture pockets, strategic communication for company staffing, and cross-cultural persona development by conducting a case study on the French African culture pocket in Brown, Cass, Morgan, and Schuyler Counties in Illinois. I was able to complete the case study in partnership with my current employer, Dot Foods.

I always welcome new connections and opportunities. If you think I’d be a strong addition to your team or would like to network, please contact me via email at savannah.riese@gmail.com.

Best,

SAVANNAH RIESE
